It spans CNC-aluminium gasket-mount customs, Hall-effect and analog-optical esports boards, Topre capacitive, and low-profile wireless designs, listing layout size, switch technology, hot-swap support, and connectivity.
Only one of the top five uses traditional metal-contact mechanical switches. Wooting's Lekker switches and SteelSeries' OmniPoint are Hall-effect magnetic designs, Razer's Huntsman V3 Pro runs analog optical switches, and the HHKB is Topre capacitive. Because none of them close a metal contact, actuation depth becomes continuously adjustable from roughly 0.1 mm — something a metal-leaf switch structurally cannot do.
Hot-swap support splits the list cleanly in half. The five solderless boards (Wooting 60HE, Keychron Q1 Pro, Ducky One 3, GMMK Pro, NuPhy Air75 V2) all sit on the custom/enthusiast side, while the three esports flagships from Razer, SteelSeries, and Logitech solder their switches down — adjustable actuation depends on a fixed sensing distance. Layouts skew even harder: only the Leopold FC900R is a 104-key full-size, with 80% and smaller taking the other nine slots.
