Use the World Athletics senior men’s marathon all-time list with lastDay=2024-12-31, bestResultsOnly=true and maxResultsByAthlete=1. Order by elapsed seconds and include every athlete whose competition rank is at most ten. Each athlete appears once; both 2:02:55 performances share tenth place. Original race finishing positions are not cross-race ranks, and storage positions do not break ties.

Interesting Facts & Summary
This compares personal bests rather than the progression of the world record. Kelvin Kiptum’s 2:00:35 is 34 seconds ahead of Eliud Kipchoge’s 2:01:09. The former article repeated athletes and misstated Bekele’s mark and Geremew’s venue; the replacement consistently uses official personal bests through end-2024. The cross-race metric rank here differs from an athlete’s finishing position in the original race. Results from 2025 and 2026 are excluded, as are exhibition performances not present in the official list.
